1) Your Blog From Start To Success -
Day 1-3
A
short
history and Overview
Blog is the shortage of web log or
weblog. At the beginning, blogs were just used as
personal note pads to share comments and communicate about business
matters. But blogs became very fast a valid and
valued form of communication for business people of all types.
There are virtually no limits from the basics of blogging, to
the intermediate areas – such as social
bookmarking, article marketing, to the advanced techniques
using auto responders and more.
A blog is a great platform for every
affiliate marketer to put something into motion. People read
blogs for fun and for information. In fact,
blogging is a mixture of business, pleasure, networking and play.
Blogs give your readers and consumers a chance, not only to read and
connect with you, but also to comment and discuss on the given
themes with you and other subscribers. Active commentators on blogs
also
get valuable backlinks to their own site if the leave their URL in the
comment box.
Day
1
To
start a blog is simple. You already know how to implement
it from the last Newsletter. Read it again here. I
assume that you have your raw blog already up and running and that you
have played around the Dashboard a little to get familiar with all the
possibilities you have.
Now you need to think about WHAT you're going to write about
in
your blog posts. This is important as you need to focus your content
exactly to the chosen Blog theme and Sub-headline. That's the only way
to
attract many followers and generate traffic to your posts. Just writing
about this and that will not lead to success.
Start with something personal, i.e. who you are, why you started this
blog and which goals you have. Invitre people to come back to read more
and also put a question at the end of your first post. Think about 3-4
good keywords relative to your text and write around them. Write a post
of about 300 to 500 words every day for at least 2-3 weeks. Then you
can slow down to 2-3 posts per week.
Remember for keyword research Wordtracker, Keyword Research Pro
or Google Keyword Search.
You can use your keywords to attract Google Adsense Ads and earn some
side income. Niche blogs can earn quite well. Once you've
found a
profitable overall keyword, you'll need to check out your competition
for these words. Basically, you're looking for a tiny niche with not
too many sites competing but with about 500 to 2000 searches per day.
Then focus your blog on these questions and give answers.
Once you've made a list of your keywords – and placed them
into a
spread sheet, you can take your research a step further. If you want to
save a lot of time seaching through Google and Yahoo for each keyword,
you can use Micro Niche Finder
which offers a
good selection of tutorial videos.
Once you've got your keywords together, you got an idea what's
profitable and on what to write about. Still no ideas yet? Then go to Ezinearticles
or the Warrior
Forum and type your keywords in.
Read the articles and let
you inspire (do not copy tough, write your own text!).
Day
2
Always think from the reader's perspective when you start writing your
Blogposts. The average reader doesn't care about
profitability, optimising to make the most out of PPC or other
technical stuff. ALL they care about is getting answers to
their
problems - people are always looking for great advice, so give it to
them.
The average stay of a reader on your blog is about 30 seconds
and
they will check just one post. If interested, they maybe click here and
there or even sign up for your newsletter. If your site doesn't live up
to what they were expecting or looking for, they'll click
away...
Blogging isn't just about eyeballs on your page and leading people to
comment on your themes. Give them a reason to want to
visit
your blog again, because its so good and informative, helpful,
inspirng, etc.
Don't forget, there are thousands and thousands of blogs and people are
not actually searching for blogs explicitly but just type in the words
of their actual problem to the search engine. So it's up to you that
they find you!
The best blogs are one or a mix of tips and advice, hobby or interest
discussion, technique and connection. if you manage
to connect with your readers, then you've won most of the
battle. Connecting with your readers is as simple as
being
personable, approachable and giving people a chance to
empathise
with you.
So you need to find out who your ideal reader is!
Do they have a specific interest, within your niche?
When you know who your reader is, you can plan the creation of a blog
that will fully appeal to any readers you attract. If you've
planned on whom you're targeting, you'll find it far easier to write
content that will continue to satisfy your readers.
Day
3
Once you've everything togeter, you need to decide on your
blog theme, pick the plugins for Wordpress, play with
certain
features in Blogger and eventually add widgets from other programs, Amazon,
etc. Right now,
all you need to do, is to find a theme you
are comfortable with.
Selecting a
theme
Most people have great plans once they start their blog. They want to
write interesting content, hopefully earning them some money back for
their efforts, and they want to be the best
information site
for people to come back often.
Themes are best described as the 'skins' of your site. The theme
controls all of the appearance of your blog. It's a kind of your
personal aura flowing through the blog to your visitors. Therefore
select your theme with care.
Blogger
comes with lots of pre-installed themes – or you can add your
own
CSS to it if you prefer and to give your blog your personal
and
unique look. It's important to at least personalise any theme
you
choose be it on Wordpress
(self hosted) or Blogger. There are many cool and professional blog
themes available for free. Just do a search with [free blog themes]
and you get a big list of results.
For Blogger, I found a really good site offering
also tutorials and learning videos. Check it here:
This is the end of the first part of this Blogging Series. In the next
newsletter I will cover content, promoting and social
networking
for your blog.
2) 10
Sure-Fire Tips to Increase Website Sales
This is an article I have recently found
inside the Pageswirl
Newsletter.
Dennis
Heikkinen has written the 10 tips which I hope are useful for you too.
"10
Sure-Fire Tips to Increase Website Sales"
by
Dennis Heikkinen
1. Always follow-up with your customer right after you have made a
sale. I suggest a follow-up "thank-you" email and also you might
include another item you might be selling in your follow-up.
2. When your customer is at your order page tell them about a few extra
related products you have for sale. You could just get an order for
more than the original product.
3. Let your customers know if they refer 3 or more visitors to your
website they will receive a big discount. Maybe even a full rebate.
Turning that one sale into 3 sales or more.
4. After the sale of the product offer your customers the option to
join your affiliate program. That way they can make commissions selling
your product. In turn, multiplying the sale you just made.
5. Offer reprint/reproduction rights to your product. Making more money
on the backend product.
6. Cross promote with other businesses and have them promoting your
product in a package deal. Include a flyer maybe with other products
you sell. Have them selling for you.
7. Include a coupon for other related products you sell when shipping
or delivering your product. Attracting the customer to buy other
products from you as well.
8. A catalogue of add-on products for the product they purchased would
be
a nice touch. Maybe upgrades, special services, attachments, etc. They
might just buy the add-on product if they like the original product.
9. You could sell your customers gift certificates for your products.
When the individual cashes in the gift certificate you will also make
money from that purchase. This might also cause them to buy other
products from your website.
10. Send freebies to your customer. The freebies should have your ad
printed on them. Maybe some bumper stickers, ball caps, t-shirts etc.
This allows other people to see your ad and order.
